
VIP Screening and Celebration of Brooklyn, Hip-hop and Indy Film
As part of the opening night events for the Black and Latino Filmmakers Coalition Independent Film Festival, Brooklyn-based film project, "Da Stuy" will be presented with a screening on Saturday, November 18 @ 7:30pm and a VIP celebration. Please come out in support of our efforts to nurture filmmaking and the arts in Brooklyn. We are expecting a great press turn out.
Invited Celebrity Quests include: Mos Def, Papoose, Doug E. Fresh, Bid Daddy Kane, Jeannie Ortega, Stacie J and Cheri Dennis
"Da Stuy" will be presented as part of the opening night events for the Black and Latino Filmmakers Coalition Independent Film Festival at the famous Steiner Studios. Built at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard site, Steiner Studios is state-of-the-art, 285,000 square feet Hollywood-style production facility. The largest to be built outside of California.
"'Da Stuy," is the first African American project, as well as the first community project, to make use of the new Steiner Studio screening space. The project was brought to the attention of the studio by Brooklyn Assemblyman Roger L. Green, a dedicated advocate of the arts in Brooklyn.

"Da Stuy" is a film about Brooklyn, shot on the streets of Brooklyn and written, directed and executive produced by Brooklyn native Joseph C. Grant, Jr. The film also uses actors from the Borough and stars Def Jam recording artist Raheim a/k/a Rah Dolla and introduces music from new soul artist Luv Jones. "Da Stuy" depicts Brooklyn in a true-to-life light and celebrates its diverse character, architecture, neighborhoods and people.
