-->MYFOXNY.COM -- The South Shore of Staten Island has the cleanest streets in New York City. The mayor's Office of Operations says trash inspectors scoured the City for the cleanest and dirtiest streets and found Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood is the worst when it comes to street cleanliness.In Bed-Stuy, 86.1% streets are "acceptably clean" while 99.3% of streets in the Tottenville and Great Kill sections of Staten Island are "acceptable."The neighborhoods with the most stores and businesses were found to be among the dirtiest; residential neighborhoods were cleaner.The city's never been cleaner since the inspections began in 1975. Last year, 93.8% of streets were clean last year up from 53% in 1980.Here is a list of the top five best and worst:Highest Percent of "Acceptably" clean streets:1. Tottenville, Great Kills and Arden Heights, Staten Island- 99.3%2. Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck, Queens- 99.2%3. New Dorp and Dongan Hills, Staten Island- 98.9%4. Rego Park, College Point and Whitestone, Queens- 97.4%4. Riverdale and Kingsbridge, Bronx- 97.4%5. Jamaica Estates, Fresh Meadows and Holliswood, Queens- 97.3%Lowest Percent of "Acceptably" clean streets:1. Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bronwsville, Brooklyn- 86.1%2. East Harlem, Spanish Harlem and Randalls Island, Manhattan- 87%3. Washington Heights and Inwood, Manhattan- 87.4%4. Mott Haven, Melrose, Morrisania and Concourse Village, Bronx- 87.7%5. Chinatown and lowe East Side, Manhattan- 87.9%
