Brooklyn, NY - Congratulations are in order for five (5) outstanding Nazareth Regional High School students in Brooklyn who scored high on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Darryl G. Alexander, Julian A. Cantres, Alain Dorlean, Martin A Evelyn and Chud N. Nwasike received a $2,500 scholarship each and referrals to various colleges for their outstanding performance on the 2008 Preliminary SAT.
“We are very proud of our students and their achievement at the national level,” said Principal, Barbra Gill. Located in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, the co-ed college preparatory High School has a 99% graduation rate; with over 95% of their students attend college.
Each year, more than 140,000 minority students nationwide compete for a chance to win lucrative scholarships in the annual National Achievement Program. The program, which was established in 1964, through private funding awards scholarships to deserving African American High School Students.
Nazareth Regional High School, which celebrates 45 years of excellence, operates in a safe and caring, learning environment. The school offers honors programs and advanced placement courses which include Microsoft Certification, Pre-Law, Fine Arts, Pre-Med and Nursing along with a wide variety of sports and extra-curricular programs.
On Friday, April 18, the school, located at 475 East 57th Street, between Avenue D and Clarendon Road, will host an Open Admissions Day from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and encourage parents of 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th graders to bring their children along with their report cards or transcripts for an on-the-spot interview placement interview.
