Super Model Beverly Johnson to Be Honored in NJ for 15th Annual Original Tee Celebrity Golf Tournament

The Original Tee Golf Classic (OTGC) the premiere celebrity amateur golf tournament lauded by diverse industry leaders and legends will celebrate its 15th Anniversary in style! The fashionable affair, which takes place Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Wild Turkey Golf Club in Hamburg, NJ, will honor the original supermodel Beverly Johnson, the first African American woman to grace the cover of Vogue. Celebrity golfers include Rosie Perez, Alonzo Mourning, John Starks, Allan Houston, Herb Williams, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, Maurice DuBois. Reception will include special honors from Mayor of Hardyston Township and Senator Cory Booker's office.
  
Beverly Johnson is a true legend whose stunning features forever changed the ideal of beauty in the world of fashion. With a career that spans over four decades, Ms. Johnson graced the cover of more than 500 magazines from Vogue, Glamour and Cosmopolitan to EBONY, Essence and French Elle. She’s appeared in thousands of editorial pages and countless advertising campaigns.  An avid golfer whose career has spanned from model to mom, to actress, author, activist, TV personality and businesswoman, Ms. Johnson became one of the first Modelpreneur with the launch of Beverly Johnson Hair Collection.
Throughout her career, Beverly has been active in charity work and speaking out about health issues. This tireless work earned her an appointment as an Ambassador of Goodwill to the fashion industry under the Clinton Administration where she helped stamp out sweatshops. New York Times named her one of its “20th Century’s 100Most Influential People in the Fashion Industry.” She graced the cover of Glamour Magazine’s 50th anniversary issue and in 2008 received the Thurgood Marshall award for style and innovation.

Sponsored by DELTA Airlines, CIROC, Mercedes-Benz, The NBA, DICK’S Sporting Goods, a percentage of the proceeds from the 15th Annual Original Tee Golf Classic will benefit the Bill Dickey Scholarship Association. The mission of the Bill Dickey Scholarship Association (BDSA) is to increase the participation of minority youth in the sport of golf as well as provide financial assistance in support of their efforts to experience the extraordinary advantages of education and opportunity. Over the years, the OTGC has proudly raised over $60,000 for BDSA.
