Again.. I try it keep this blog strickly a Bed Stuy thing... However, I would truly be remorse if I did not share this exciting celebration with you. On Sunday, the Harlem Jazz & Music Festival in celebration of HARLEM WEEK will present its annual GREAT DAY IN HARLEM outdoor affair. This 2 part event, which kicks off at 12 noon with Family Unity, is a family fun day packed with live entertainment, international vending and exotic dishes along with a tribute concert to the late, great MARVIN GAYE. HARLEM WEEK CELEBRATES 32nd ANNIVERSARY
WITH A GREAT DAY IN HARLEM
All Day Extravaganza to include International Fashion Show, Vendors and tribute to Marvin Gaye!

WHAT: HARLEM WEEK begins celebrating its 32nd Anniversary by honoring the multi-cultural community with a variety of spectacular events and activities during its Great Day In Harlem festival. The three-part, day-long celebration kicks off with the annual Family Unity Day Cultural Festival, continues with the exciting international “Fashion Fusion” fashion show, and ends with an enchanting Concert Under the Stars, celebrating the musical legacy of the late Luther Vandross.

PART I
The festive Family Unity Day Cultural Festival takes place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, is an enjoyable cultural experience where the entire family can take pleasure in a variety of artistic expressions. Attendees can also delight in numerous exotic dishes, cultural arts, crafts, clothing and more from an assortment of vendors. This portion of the day will conclude with the New York Christian Times spirit filled Gospel Hour, which takes place from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.
PART II
For fashion enthusiasts, the steps of the Ulysses S. Grant National Park is the place to be as HARLEM WEEK celebrates the best in urban style during its “Fashion Fusion” fashion show, featuring some of New York’s freshest faces wearing some of the hottest fashion and accessories by a variety of cutting-edge designer including Alve Couture; Bathhouse; Chila for Fun; Derosoux Couture; Jean Envy; KD Sports by Kevin Dickens; La Diva Lamonte; Leslie Monique; Monif-C; Nova Loraine; Steven Daniels; Tayion-Monty; Vaughn Jereauxs; and Virginia Joy Couture. Runway activities begin at 5:00 PM.
PART III
The festive day ends with a special musical salute the legendary Luther Vandross, during the annual Concert Under the Stars “What’s Going On? Tribute to Marvin Gaye”. Musically directed by Ray Chew, the enchanting moonlit evening will include musical tributes by Freddie Jackson; Meli’sa Morgan; Ashford & Simpson; Algebra; Raheem Devaughn; Urban Mystic; Gordon Chambers with a special guest appearance by actress Nona Gaye. The spectacular affair takes place from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

The three part Great Day In Harlem is just one the many events composing HARLEM WEEK’s 32nd Anniversary. Other activities during the month-long celebration include the Greater Harlem Housing, Small Business and Community Development Seminars, Fair & Expo on Saturday, August 12, an economic development award luncheon, a gala celebrating this year’s inductees to the National Black Sports & Entertainment Hall of Fame, a college fair, an auto show, and a children’s festival.
